The permanent antifestival 2K+ as a concert season creates space for the sound of contemporary music in Novi Sad. 2K+ promotes the music of the current century, and since 2K15, over 50 compositions got to see their Serbian premiere, among which are the pieces by established world composers such as Morton Feldman, Enno Poppe, Kaija Sariaaho, David Lang, Klaus Lang, Bernhard Lang, Francesca Verunelli and others, as well as local contemporary composers, and many of them were also written for that occasion. In addition to established compositions (2K+ ensemble), which is always made up of a combination of young and experienced local musicians with the support of foreign and highly specialized contemporary music performers, we have also hosted ensembles from abroad that exclusively have contemporary music in their repertoires (Phoenix Ensemble Basel, Elision, Proton Bern, Down the Rabbit Hole, HYPER DUO…), as well as musicians from the field of contemporary electronic music (Post Industrial Boys, Pjerre Bastien, Jan Jelinek, Burnt Friedmann…). The goal of the 2K+ program is to find a new audience and raise awareness of the flow of the world’s contemporary classical and electronic music, as well as to promote and improve domestic promising performers who will continue the tradition of performing contemporary musical pieces in a superior manner in the future, while domestic composers, who, in addition to gaining the performances of their new compositions, will be able to use the same advantage and have the opportunity to closely follow the progressiveness of contemporary music.
The 2K+ program is a project of the Cultural Centre of Vojvodina “Miloš Crnjanski” and was included in the project program of the Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture 2022. From 2020 to 2023, the 2K+ program is part of the European project House. Music. Europe. (HoME) in cooperation with partners Gryllus Culturalis from Budapest, Black Page Orchestra from Vienna and Mixtur from Barcelona, supported by the Creative Europe Fund.
